The Oregon Main Street Annual Conference will be held in McMinnville October 1-3!
We're proud to present the 21st Annual Brown Bag Summer Concert Series in Historic Downtown McMinnville.
Thursdays, 12pm to 1:30pm, June 12 - August 14, 2014.
Free and open to the public.
With the exception of the first and last concert, all concerts will take place outside at the US Bank plaza at 3rd and Davis St, in downtown McMinnville. In case of inclement weather, concerts will move indoors to Moonlight Theater at 3rd Street Pizza Co., 433 NE Third Street. The first and last concert of the season, will be held at the First Baptist Church, 125 SE Cowls St.
We encourage everyone to grab a lunch and head downtown every Thursday this summer.
June 12 - Michael Allen Harrison
We continue the long-standing tradition of kicking off the Brown Bag Concert Series with concert pianist Michael Allen Harrison. Michael is a northwest producer, composer and arranger and is returning for his 17th year to perform at our Brown Bag Concert Series. THIS concert will take place at the First Baptist Church, 125 NE Cowls St, McMinnville
June 19 - Mike Strickland - At First Baptist Church Pianist and composer Mike Strickland has been influenced by many styles of music and has evolved into a one-of-a-kind piano artist. Mike has toured extensively all over the US as a solo artist and with his trio. He is known for his exceptional musicianship and arrangements, his virtuosic technique, and his unmatched ability to connect with the audience on a personal level.
July 3 - Ad Lib with Dana Libonati - McMinnville High School jazz instructor Dana Libonati, along with his friends playing jazz and swing. Dana received his both his Bachelors of Composition and Theory and his Masters in Composition at the University of Portland. He has written and arranged choral pieces and film scores, taught jazz choir and theory at Linfield College for a number of years, writes music and assists with instruction for the Young Musicians Academy, and this year he was nominated for the GRAMMY Music Educator Award (Awards will be presents at the GRAMMY ceremony in 2014).
July 10 - Sky Bound Blue - Sky Bound Blue is the duo Jenny and Matt Behnke based right here in McMinnville. The married couple play an eclectic Americana blend with a generous dollop of grit and soul and a splash of Nashville inspired bluegrass roots. The Behnkes spent thirteen years in the Nashville area working with some of city’s finest writers and players and have recently returned home to the Northwest to continue honing their craft.
July 17 - Maraval Road - Led by Steel Pan artist Tom Berich, Maraval Rd Steel Band is Southern Oregon's premiere professional steel band. Calypso, Soca, Panorama, they bring the best in authentic music from Trinidad and Tobago!
July 24 - Golden Bough - Rooted in the traditional music of the seven Celtic nations (Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, The Isle of Man, French Brittany and Spanish Galicia), Golden Bough has become a popular and in-demand group on both sides of the Atlantic. Since their formation in 1980, this trio of modern day minstrels has traveled great distances to numerous countries, to bring their music to enthusiastic folk fans the world over.
July 31 - Black and Blue - Black & Blue is an acoustic group from the Pacific Northwest featuring guitarist and vocalist, Mike Fite and percussionist, Garrett Ewing.
July 25 - Round House Band
Roundhouse performs music from a variety of genres using bluegrass instrumentation; bass, guitar, mandolin, and banjo. Duet, trio and quartet harmonies are integral to the Roundhouse sound; working out interesting and unique arrangements are of special interest to the band members. Bluegrass, folk, southern and classic rock, a cappella, gospel, country, blazing instrumentals and original compositions all appear in the band's repertoire!
August 7 - The Wild Wood - Coalescing from Portland's thriving music scene, The Wild Wood is a constellation of accomplished young stars who have been attracted toward one another as much by each other's shine as by the affinity they share with traditional Folk music, it's re-emergence and evolution. Drawing on a well of collective experiences, The Wild Wood resonates with that part of us which is rooted in a simpler way of life, while delighting us with dynamic arrangements, emotional vocal harmonies and virtuostic solos.
August 14 -Countryside Ride - We play good ole Honkytonk, Hard-core Country & Western, Hillbilly, and Western Swing music in, and around, the great city of Portland, Or., and we're all the rage in Amboy.
